Autonomous Vehicles Are Good for San Francisco, Editorial Board Wrongly Advocates for City Control
This Week In The Road to Autonomy Index — For the week of June 26, 2023, The Road to Autonomy Index returned 1.96%, while the S&P 500 returned 2.08%. The top performing stocks in The Road to Autonomy Index this week were Luminar, Magna, and FedEx.
On this episode, Grayson Brulte discusses the Louis Vuitton East Hampton MOKE experience and why this is laying the foundation for a Louis Vuitton Autonomous Vehicle Service. Along with the June 29th The Los Angeles Times Editorial Board Editorial; “Slow the roll of robotaxis. They aren’t safe enough yet to take over California’s streets”.
In The Los Angeles Times Editorial Board Editorial, the board make the argument that self-driving cars are not ready for prime-time. Yet the number of traffic crashes in San Francisco is the 3rd highest in the State of California. Behind Los Angeles and San Diego which are much larger cities.
The editorial correctly pointed out that autonomous vehicles do not get distracted, but the editorial board wrongly advocates for city control over autonomous vehicles. This is the wrong approach as it will create a new layer of bureaucracy that will stifle innovation and further harm San Francisco’s rapidly deteriorating economy.
Autonomous vehicles are good for San Francisco as they will have a positive impact on the region’s economy.
